Petrified wood coaster for hard washcloths
(warm earth tones)
A bathroom accent that looks like a mini painting from another era. This coaster is made from over 20 million year old petrified wood – a real piece of fossilized tree trunk that has been turned to stone over millions of years.
The top is lightly sanded, and the dark base color is interwoven with warm brown, sand, and cream veins. It looks as if the grooves of ancient wood meet marble or a river map. The naturally uneven edges resemble bark and give the coaster a wild character.
The tray is ideal for solid shampoo or solid shower gel. It lifts the gel off the wet surface, so it dries better, doesn't soften, and lasts longer.
What is a petrified tree?
Petrified wood is formed when a fallen tree is covered by sediment or volcanic rock and is deprived of oxygen. Over thousands of years, mineral-rich water flows through it, gradually disintegrating the wood, and its place is filled with crystals of quartz and other minerals. The structure of the wood, its grooves and even knots remain, but the piece itself becomes as hard as stone.
In short, it is a once-growing tree that is now a stone, still retaining its "wooden" appearance.
