Petrified wood coaster for hard washcloths
A little bathroom accent from a time before cities or humans existed. This coaster is made from over 20 million-year-old petrified wood – a real piece of fossilized wood that slowly turned to stone over millions of years.
The smooth top comfortably holds a solid shampoo or solid shower gel, while the naturally "gnawed" edges resemble tree bark. Dark, calm shades and subtle veins give the bathroom an earthy, cozy, spa-like feel. The tray lifts the cleanser off the wet surface, so it dries faster, doesn't soften, and lasts longer.
What is a petrified tree?
Petrified wood occurs when an ancient tree falls, is covered with sand or volcanic rocks, and is left without oxygen. Over the millennia, mineral-rich water begins to flow through it - the organic tissue of the tree gradually decomposes, and its place is filled with crystals of quartz and other minerals. This way, the tree retains its shape, groove pattern, even "knots", but becomes hard as stone.
It is essentially wood "preserved" in stone. Each piece has unique grain and color, so no two coasters are the same.
Interesting facts about petrified wood
-
Its hardness is similar to quartz - it is a strong, durable stone.
-
Some pieces of petrified wood still retain clearly visible annual grooves - like small "X-rays" of the ancient forest.
-
Fossil wood is often used in interiors as a natural accent, providing a sense of "grounding" - a connection to the earth and nature.
-
You are holding not just any pebble in your hand, but a former tree that grew long before modern continental maps appeared.

Maintenance:
After use, if there is any water or foam left on the surface, rinse and dry the pad. If necessary, you can gently wipe it with a damp cloth. Do not keep it submerged in water for long periods of time - it does not need it, it has already endured everything in those 20 million years.
